Mom has been sick for a while. Poor thing, and the weather
has been cool, then cold, then snow, then cool, then cold, then snow again, so
we haven’t had much time together over the past few weeks.
The sun is out today, and when she called asking for a lunch partner, I happily headed out the door!
Mom heard of a restaurant in town that served good food, and
neither of us knew where it was, so we plugged in the address, and away we
went! We wandered to the outskirts of town and pulled in to a gravel and dirt
driveway/parking lot. The building was unassuming, but hey, they might just
have the best food ever, so we ventured in.
It was lunch time, and other than a few men at the bar, the dining area was empty. We ‘assumed’ it was seat yourself and found a table by the
window. A man was working on the sound system and the music was really loud! A
lady at the bar said hello across the room, but never came over. I noticed the
pool table in the corner, interesting place. Then I spied two ‘table top’
advertisements near the salt and pepper shakers…..”Drag Night this Weekend"- with a photo of a lovely ‘lady’ on the cover.
I turned to mom, showed her the ad, and tried to keep a
straight face. “Who, exactly, recommended this place, mom?”
She laughed, “Ummmm, honey, I don’t remember.”
She looked down, then quietly leaned in and said…. “Wanna
head over to Chic-Fil-A??”
We both grabbed our purses and headed out. Once to the car
we both died laughing!
Our blogs title is “Out to Lunch, with a Side of Laughter”,
and boy oh boy did we laugh today!
Mom and I ‘ALWAYS’ have an adventure! Today, we just weren’t ready for one quite like this!
Thank you Chic Fil A, for being open today, and for the
lovely simple flower arrangement on our table! The Chicken Sandwich and Cobb Salad, were perfect!
I have a picture in my head .....when you read the table card!!!!!!!! Very funny!!!!!!I'm looking forward to your next adventure!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou too must "look" for trouble..with laughs. jking Of course there's no place like CFA!
ReplyDeleteOh, too funny!
ReplyDeleteAlmost as funny as when my husband and another man from his office went on a business trip together. They noticed all the others in the restaurant they chose were girlfriend-boyfriend couples. Then they realized it was Valentine's Day, and they were the only two men eating together in the whole place!
Definitely a lunch story that will be told many times! The CFA Cobb Salad is my favorite menu item. Well, maybe the Nuggets...
ReplyDeleteLOL!
ReplyDeleteLove the look of the Cobb Salad.
All the best Jan

ReplyDeleteThat is so much fun! Oh my.
ReplyDeleteJust the fact tht your mom called you and wanted you to be her "lunch partner" is so awesome and warms my heart! What a fun afternoon for you two!
